Har Ghar Har Grahani Yojana
Har Ghar-Har Grihini Yojana’s major purpose is to supply affordable LPG cylinders to families living below the poverty line (BPL). The plan offers qualified households a subsidy of ₹500 per LPG cylinder. This effort is intended to alleviate the financial burden of cooking fuel expenses for low-income families, promoting better health and cleanliness through the use of cleaner energy sources.
Who will get the benefit?
This program targets around 50 lakh households in Haryana, with a special focus on Antyodaya families—those at the bottom of the economic ladder. Eligibility requirements for this scheme include:
- The applicant must be a permanent resident of Haryana.
- Female applicants: The program is specifically developed for women, in line with broader women’s empowerment objectives.
- BPL families: Priority is given to BPL families, but other economically weaker sections (EWS), such as SC, ST, and OBC populations, are also eligible.
- The annual household income should not exceed ₹1.5 lakhs.
How will this scheme work?
To benefit from the scheme, eligible families must register on the state government’s official portal. The process includes a few basic steps:
- Online Registration: Applicants must visit the official Har Ghar Har Grahani Yojana website and register using their mobile number and basic personal information.
- Document Submission: After registering, candidates must submit the required papers, including Aadhaar and income certifications, using the portal.
- Beneficiaries who register will receive LPG cylinders worth ₹500 as a subsidy. The government would repay any payment exceeding ₹500 for the cylinder through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to the beneficiary’s bank account.
Impact of the Scheme
The Haryana government has budgeted for this project at ₹1500 crore per year. This large financial investment demonstrates the government’s aim to reduce economic stresses on low-income households, with a focus on the obstacles that women confront in handling family requirements.
