The new coupe-style SUV Citroen Basalt has been formally introduced for sale in the Indian market by French automaker Citroen. With an initial price of just Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom), Citroen has released its new SUV. Along with its inauguration, the business has begun accepting official reservations.

For the pitiful sum of merely Rs 11,001, consumers can reserve it through the company’s dealership and official website. Please be aware that this is an introductory price that is only available for cars reserved through October 31. That is, the SUV’s price may go up in the future at the request of the firm.

Citroen Basalt Design

The brand’s C3 Aircross vehicle served as inspiration for Basalt. On the front, it resembles Aircross quite a bit. The coupe-body style is attributed to its sloping roofline. Its muscular dual-tone back bumper, LED tail lamp, and freshly styled alloy wheels are all present. Polar White, Steel Grey, Platinum Grey, Cosmo Blue, and Garnet Red are the five monotone colour options that have been offered. Also offered in white and other colours is the contrast black roof.

Citroen Basalt Power and Performance

Basalt was introduced by the firm to the market with just two possibilities for petrol engines. The manufacturer used a 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol engine in this SUV. which produces 115 Nm of torque and 82 horsepower. Its 110 horsepower turbocharged petrol engine produces power simultaneously.

A torque converter gearbox and a 6-speed manual gearbox are linked to this turbo engine. In addition, the normally aspirated engine is limited to a 5-speed manual gearbox choice.

Citroen Basalt Cabin and Features

A significant effort has been made to make the Basalt cabin superior. Its dashboard resembles the C3 Aircross, though. A 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, three-spoke steering wheel, automated climate control, rear AC vents, wireless Apple Car Play and Android Auto compatibility are just a few of its highlights.

A few little adjustments have been made by the manufacturer, and Basalt has been added. Additionally, as seen for the first time in this class, it offers adjustable thigh support for the rear seat. According to the manufacturer, this automobile offers 470 litres of cargo space.

Only the base model’s price has been disclosed by Citroen. The corporation will make the costs of its other variations public in the near future. In the Indian market, this SUV will directly fight with the Tata Curve if we look at it right away. which will have their prices revealed on September 2nd.

However, Citroen’s introduction of this SUV at such a low cost has undoubtedly placed pressure on Tata Motors. The Tata Nexon, Tata’s second-cheapest SUV, is currently available for purchase with prices starting at Rs 7.99 lakh.
